Record #179837:

The participial oblique, a verb mood found only in Nunivak central alaskan Yup'ik and in Siberian Yup'ik / Steven A. Jacobson.

Title: The participial oblique, a verb mood found only in Nunivak central alaskan Yup'ik and in Siberian Yup'ik / Steven A. Jacobson.
Author(s): Jacobson, Steven A.
Date: 2006.
In: Études Inuit = Inuit Studies. (2006.), Vol. 30(1) (2006)
Abstract: Discusses form and function of "participial oblique" verb mood found in Nunivak (but not in other central Alaskan Yup'ik dialects) and in central Siberian Yup'ik Eskimo (language of St Lawrence Island and tip of Chukotka). Also considers differences between Chukotkan form of mood and that of St Lawrence Island, and probable "missing link" participial construction in other central Alaskan Yup'ik dialects.
