Abstract: Uses merged image of nadir viewing PAN and LISS III data from 2000 and PAN stereo data from 2000-01 from Indian Remote Sensing satellite (IRS)-1C to identify terminus of Gangotri glacier. Measures 1510 m terminus retreat with respect to 1962 topographic map. Compares elevations from map and DEM generated from stereo data to determine pre-1962 ice thickness in area of retreat. Measures 18 m retreat over 2000-01 using PAN orthoimages.
