| Abstract: | Investigates genetic variability of highly valuable gadid species, walleye pollock (Theragra chalcogramma (Pallas 1811)) from five spatially separated north-western Bering Sea areas. Finds walleye pollock from Anadyr Gulf to be genetically separate from other four samples in clustering of genetic distances; also that total heterogeneity among all five samples is significant, while there is no heterogeneity among four samples excluding that from Anadyr Gulf. Concludes that observed pattern of genetic differentiation probably emerged from subdivision of population of species in northernmost part of geographic range. |
