| Abstract: | Reports results of three separate studies undertaken in Yakutiya in 2005: 1. Expedition Verkhoyansk 2005 carried out limnological investigations at lake Billyakh whose aim was retrieval of long sediment cores for later multi-proxy palaeolimnological analyses together with survey of lake hydrology and bathymetry. 2. Limnological studies in central and north-east Yakutiya investigated properties of lakes and analysed sediments, hydro-chemistry, water isotopes and aquatic organisms. 3. Vegetation studies in extreme continental regions of Yakutiya. Finds remarkable correspondences between Pleistocene plant cover in Siberian Arctic and present-day vegetation and environments in region. |
