| Abstract: | Study carried out as part of multidisciplinary research project Paleoclimate Signals in Ice-Rich Permafrost in which ice-rich permafrost sequences were investigated in detail in coastal areas of Laptev Sea. Performs palaeoclimate reconstruction based on stable isotope chemistry and hydrochemistry applied to recent ground ice. Describes isotope method used with equilibration technique. Presents results from three expeditions in 1998-2000. Synthesises results and combines with own unpublished data and data from literature to derive regional climate picture. Suggests possible future research on ground ice and palaeoclimate studies. |
