Abstract: Discusses distribution, abundance and species composition of zooplankton communities in seasonal ice zone (SIZ) in Australian sector of Southern Ocean along 140°E based on results of March 2002 survey. Though copepods were numerically dominant at two stations, appendicularians were numerically dominant at southernmost station south of Southern Boundary (SB) frontal system, suggesting that Appendicularia may be integral part of community structure of zooplankton in SIZ. Distribution patterns of some species, including Rhincalanus gigas, Calanus simillimus, Amphipods, Euphausiacea and Polychaeta, correlated with position of SB, confirming its important influence on distribution and community structure of zooplankton in SIZ.
