Abstract: | Presents analysis of organic components in sediment cores from Namazu Ike and Ō-ike lakes on Prins Harald Kyst, including carbon-14 dating. Very high total organic carbon (TOC) contents of Namazu Ike showed that sediment core was mainly composed of organic matter, and dramatic increase of TOC/total nitrogen ratios at depth of 25 cm suggests that aquatic moss increased from 1100yBP to core top. Changes in n-alkanes, n-alkanoic and n-alkenoic acids, and sterol compositions in coarse and fine sands of Ō-ike sediment core suggest that microbial composition changed considerably, though source organisms are not clear. |
