| Abstract: | Introduction to special issue of journal on oil and gas industry, local communities and State. Presents overview of academic research and current practice relating to stakeholder dialogue around oil and gas development in Russian North, Siberia and Russian Far East. Discusses regulation, impact assessment and relationship-building, with particular focus on indigenous communities. Argues for creation of effective regulatory framework. Identifies lessons to be learned from initiatives already established in Sakhalin and West Siberia. |
