In: Polish Polar Research. (2007.), Vol. 28(1) (2007)
Abstract: Reports isolation of saprotrophic filamentous microfungi using soil dilution method, from soil samples collected from four locations in Bellsund region, Spitsbergen. Locations represent following forms of surface micro-relief: old stormbank, sorted circle, frost fissure between tundra polygons, and central part of tundra polygon. Results suggest that abundance of fungi in Arctic soil is mostly affected by content of organic matter and plant cover, but other factors (stage of soil development and micro-relief of surface) are more important for species-richness.
