| Abstract: | Describes Mesosignum bathyalis sampled from bathyal Weddell Sea at depth of 2,085 m during 2002 voyage of RV Polarstern as part of ANDEEP expeditions. New species is characterised by distinctly broader anterior body part and tapering posterior part, ereonite 4 with distinctly short lateral extensions and very narrow and reduced pars molaris of both mandibles. Mesosignum latum Birsteirn 1970 is most similar species, and has been described from deep sea of Kamchatka Trench at depth of 5,005-6,135 m. |
