| Abstract: | Describes Eugerdella serrata sp. nov., second species of this genus from Southern Ocean, collected during 2002 voyage of RV Polarstern to Weddell Sea. New species is most similar to E. pugilator Hessler, 1970. Both species share synapomorphies that distinguish them from all other species of genus. Eugerdella serrata sp. nov. can be distinguished from E. pugilator by smooth lateral margins of pereonites 5-7, characters of pereopod I and lacinia mobilis with three teeth. Discusses relationships and systematic positions of two species with particular reference to morphological variability within genus Eugerdella Hessler, 1970. |
