Record #179587:

Geographic variation in tooth morphology of the Arctic fox Vulpes (Alopex) lagopus / David J. Daitch, Robert P. Guralnick.

Title: Geographic variation in tooth morphology of the Arctic fox Vulpes (Alopex) lagopus / David J. Daitch, Robert P. Guralnick.
Author(s): Daitch, David J.
Guralnick, Robert P.
Date: 2007.
In: Journal of Mammalogy. (2007.), Vol. 88(2) (2007)
Abstract: Examines differences in molar shape between 11 populations of Arctic fox (Alopex lagopus). Finds that shape differs only slightly among mainland populations, whereas island populations differ significantly from each other and from all mainland populations. Also examines possible correlations of tooth shape with climatic variables, but finds that shape does not correlate significantly with either mean annual temperature or precipitation.
