Record #179585:
Depositional origin of an adverse delta surface slope at Altermarka, northern Norway / K. Gustavson, L. Olsen.
Title: | Depositional origin of an adverse delta surface slope at Altermarka, northern Norway / K. Gustavson, L. Olsen. |
Author(s): | Gustavson, K. Olsen, L. |
Date: | 2006. |
In: | Norsk Geografisk Tidsskrift. (2006.), Vol. 60(2) (2006) |
Abstract: | Presents reinvestigation of Altemarka delta, finding no evidence that glacier overrode surface. Notes that topset beds remain intact and no appreciable till was found. Locates sediments resembling samples originally taken from Altermarka, but suggests that soil processes and other sedimentary processes could easily account for wide grain-size distributions. Cautions against using grain-size analysis, on its own, to interpret genesis of sediments. |
Notes: | Norsk Geografisk Tidsskrift. Vol. 60(2) :129-138 (2006). |
