| Abstract: | Examines Holocene lateral expansion and carbon accumulation within Luovuoma, northern fen in Finnish Lapland, using stratigraphy, peat properties, radiocarbon dating and carbon content of 31 volumetric samples, with aim of understanding variations in carbon accumulation over time. Observes retrogressive trend in carbon accumulation rates from base to surface peat layer. Declining trend in net carbon accumulation rates suggest that, after initial stages of development, Luovuoma fen has acted more significantly as carbon source. |
