Abstract: Reports study to characterise nature and prevalence of disease in Alaska Native patients referred for evaluation of upper gastrointestinal signs and symptoms. Finds that, among 200 patients undergoing oesophagogastroduodenoscopies during study period, 130 (65%) test Helicobecter pylori-positive on histology; also, that among 173 with histological evidence of gastritis, 114 (66%) tested H. pylori-positive on histology.
