| Abstract: | Investigates variability of values of spectral coefficients of light absorption in blue range of spectrum by phytoplankton in Barents and Scotia seas. Matches these coefficients with those of detritus, mineral suspended matter and seston. Calculates relative contribution of phytoplankton to general coefficient of light absorption by seston. Traces changes of absolute and relative coefficients at transition from open waters to coastal waters. Detects relations of all investigated coefficients with concentration of chlorophyll. Finds that light absorption potential of phytoplankton with growth of chlorophyll always increases, although its contribution to overall light absorption may increase (as in Barents Sea) but also decrease (as in Scotia Sea) |
