| Abstract: | Investigates whether age, sex and season are related to carcass composition of northern common eiders (Somateria mollisima borealis) wintering in south-west Greenland between 1999-2002. Finds that adults carry more lipid and protein than juveniles during all winters; also that, among both age classes, males and females have similar fat levels, but males carry slightly more protein. Discovers no dramatic seasonal variation in lipid or protein content. |
