The methane flux along topographical gradients on a glacier foreland in the High Arctic, Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard / Minaco Adachi, Toshiyuki Ohtsuka, Takayuki Nakatsubo, Hiroshi Koizuma.
Title: | The methane flux along topographical gradients on a glacier foreland in the High Arctic, Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard / Minaco Adachi, Toshiyuki Ohtsuka, Takayuki Nakatsubo, Hiroshi Koizuma. |
Author(s): | Adachi, Minaco. Ohtsuka, Toshiyuki. Nakatsubo, Takayuki. Koizuma, Hiroshi. |
Date: | 2006. |
In: | National Institute of Polar Research. Polar Bioscience. (2006.), Vol. 20 (2006) |
Abstract: | Investigates relationship between methane (CH₄) flux and soil factors and vegetation in High Arctic tundra. Finds wide variation in CH₄ flux rates among sites even within same vegetation type, ranging from positive (emission) to negative (absorption) values. Detects high CH₄ emission rates on ridges and in sites with low water content, but finds no significant relationship between CH₄ flux rates and soil factors including soil moisture, pH, soil carbon and nitrogen content. |
