Abstract: | Describes twined spruce root basket formerly attributed to Tlingit Indians but now accepted as made by Alutiiq populations of Prince William Sound and Kodiak Island. Bases opinion on comparison of documented Tlingit baskets with those collected from Alutiiqs as early as 1778 voyage of Captain James Cook and as late as 1950s. |
