In: Arctic Anthropology. (2006.), Vol. 43(2) (2006)
Abstract: Explores archaeological evidence for surplus food production in Kodiak archipelago, focusing on patterns of land use, technology, and exchange preserved in Ocean Bay II and Early Kachemak assemblages from Chiniak Bay region. Suggests that surplus production for purposes of seasonal food storage began in Early Kachemak, and accelerated in Late Kachemak as population levels climbed.
