| Abstract: | Constructs annual carbon budget of pelagic food web for 36 m deep station in Young Sound, using data collected during two-week midsummer sea-ice covered period in 1999, during open water period of 1996, 2003, 2004 and 2005, and during winters of 1997 and 2003. Measurements reveal that, during sea-ice cover, water column of outer Young Sound is strongly heterotrophic and sustained by organic material advected into fjord from open sea.; also that pelagic community originates from marginal ice zone at entrance to fjord. |
