In: Avoiding dangerous climate change. (2006.),
Abstract: Summarises results of Atlantic thermohaline circulation (ATHC) simulations performed by Climate Research Group at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Uses uncoupled ocean general circulation model (OGCM) and coupled atmosphere-ocean general circulation model (AOGCM) to model present-day ATHC and attempt to predict behaviour in response to addition of freshwater to North Atlantic Ocean. Finds that ATHC shuts down irreversibly in uncoupled OGCM but reversibly in coupled AOGCM.
