Record #179298:

The potential influence of the sea ice and water variations to the marine ecosystem in the Arctic Ocean / Guizhong Wang, Jianfeng He, Minghong Cai, Shaojing Li, Congjie Dai.

Title: The potential influence of the sea ice and water variations to the marine ecosystem in the Arctic Ocean / Guizhong Wang, Jianfeng He, Minghong Cai, Shaojing Li, Congjie Dai.
Author(s): Wang, Guizhong.
He, Jianfeng.
Cai, Minghong.
Li, Shaojing.
Dai, Congjie.
Date: 2005.
Language: Chinese.
In: Chinese Journal of Polar Research. (2005.), Vol. 17(3) (2005)
Abstract: Considers recent changes in environmental conditions of Arctic Ocean (decrease in area covered by sea ice, reduction in thickness of sea ice, increase of water temperature and fresh water influx, aggravation of pollution) and implications for existing ecosystem that has close relationship with sea ice. Suggests that changes will cause sympagic food web to disappear in some areas, to be replaced by species coming from lower latitude. Considers importance of understanding characteristics of environmental and ecological variation for formulation of measures to protect Arctic sea mammals.
