| Abstract: | Reports use of Bayesian estimation methods to fit age- and sex-structures model to available data on abundance and stage proportions (ratio of calves to mature animals) for Bering-Chukchi-Beaufort Seas stock of bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus). Considers three population modelling approaches, and finds that all are able to fit abundance data, and remain consistent with available estimates of adult survival and age of sexual maturity. |
