| Abstract: | Summarises outcomes from workshop in Grenoble, 24-26 April 2006, with brief overview of scientific rationale and organisational setting. Includes geodynamics of lake evolution; limnology and biogeochemistry; evolution and adaptation of microbial life; ice sheet dynamics; paleoclimate records and global climate connections. Assesses technological challenges to study of subglacial environments, with particular reference to access drilling and sampling technologies, decontamination protocols, protocols for aseptic handing of samples, sharing of water and sediment samples, and central archiving. |
