Record #178975:

Carbon and nitrogen limitation of soil microbial respiration in a High Arctic successional glacier foerland near Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard / Shinpei Yoshitake, Masaki Uchida, Hiroshi Koizumi, Takayuki Nakatsubo.

Title: Carbon and nitrogen limitation of soil microbial respiration in a High Arctic successional glacier foerland near Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard / Shinpei Yoshitake, Masaki Uchida, Hiroshi Koizumi, Takayuki Nakatsubo.
Author(s): Yoshitake, Shinpei.
Uchida, Masaki.
Koizumi, Hiroshi.
Nakatsubo, Takayuki.
Date: 2007.
In: Polar Research. (2007.), Vol. 26(1) (2007)
Abstract: Examines hypotheses that carbon and nitrogen availability limit microbial activity and that key factors limiting microbes vary along successional gradient. Studies responses of respiration rate and phospholipid fatty acid content to addition of carbon and/or nitrogen. Results suggest microbial respiration is limited by low availability of both carbon and nitrogen in early stage of succession, but nitrogen limitation is later mitigated.
