Abstract: Reports on chaetognath ecology across Antarctic Divergence (AD) in waters off Wilkes Land, based on north-south transects during cruises in 1994-95 and 2001-02 summer seasons, with particular reference to hydrographic conditions coupled with temporal changes. Includes distribution, feeding, size and maturity, and uses time series sampling to make specific comparisons of water masses in relation to time, both long and short term. Numerically dominant species was Eukrohnia hamata at over 80% of collected specimens, and it was most abundant north of AD where bi-modal distribution was common. Breeding of E. hamata appeared unaffected by water conditions, with same maturity stages present in similar percentages across water masses and vertical segregation of size classes clearest north of AD in more stratified water column. In other locations, size classes overlapped considerably, probably due to physical forcing from mixing water. Feeding activity was highest on north and south edges of AD with no recognizable diel pattern. Prevalence of smaller specimens containing prey items north of AD suggests two separate populations, and percentage of E. hamata with food in their gut was frequently nearly 50%.
