In: Journal of Avian Biology. (2006.), Vol. 38(1) (2006)
Abstract: Investigates spring, summer and early winter distribution, migration routes and timing of migration of Atlantic population of Steller's eiders (Polysticta stelleri), using implanted satellite transmitters. Finds that Steller's eiders concentrate in discrete areas during spring staging and moult and notes vulnerability to habitat loss and other potential hazards, such as oil pollution. Also finds that west coast of Novaya Zemlya is important to large proportion of Atlantic population from spring until autumn migration.
