Record #178745:

The role of membrane-like stresses in determining the stability and sensitivity of the Antarctic ice sheets: back pressure and grounding line motion / Richard C.A. Hindmarsh.

Title: The role of membrane-like stresses in determining the stability and sensitivity of the Antarctic ice sheets: back pressure and grounding line motion / Richard C.A. Hindmarsh.
Author(s): Hindmarsh, Richard C. A.
Date: 2006.
Abstract: Presents new analytical solution for ice-shelf profiles and grounded tractionless stream profiles, which show blow-up of profile in finite distance upstream at locations where flux is non-zero. Investigates length scale of decay of membrane stresses from grounding line through scale analysis. Presents finite difference model which represents both neutral equilibrium and dynamical transition, and carries out preliminary investigations into numerical sensistivity.
