Abstract: Account of settlement of Johan Peder Eriksen and his family in Kildin, Murman coast, which reflects changes in local community and adaptation to new way of life and survival by many Norwegian colonists. Describes disappearance of civilian population after Revolution and civil war in 1920, and pressure put on Norwegian population which finally culminated in evacuation of Kildin in 1933 at start of building of Soviet Northern Fleet.
