Delineating Canada's continental shelf under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea / Jacob Verhoef, Richard MacDougall.

Title: Delineating Canada's continental shelf under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea / Jacob Verhoef, Richard MacDougall.
Author(s): Verhoef, Jacob.
MacDougall, Richard.
Date: 2005.
In: Bedford Institute of Oceanography. Annual Review. (2005.), (2005)
Abstract: Considers interpretation of Article 76 of United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which describes definition of coordinates of legal offshore limit that are based upon geological and geomorphological characteristics of seafloor, and thickness of underlying sedimentary layer. Notes that Arctic Ocean has complicated seafloor geology, and that there is potential for competing claims from neighbouring countries (for instance, Russian submission in 2002).
