Demography and interaction: an appraisal of the core area concept in Paleoeskimo studies / Daniel Odess.

Title: Demography and interaction: an appraisal of the core area concept in Paleoeskimo studies / Daniel Odess.
Author(s): Odess, Daniel.
Date: 2002.
Publisher: Washington, DC: Arctic Studies Center, National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution
In: Honoring our elders : a history of eastern Arctic archaeology. (2002.),
Abstract: Discusses core area concept in context of eastern Arctic archaeology. Notes that concept represented significant step forward from purely culture-historical concerns to provide some of first explanations of regional-level patterns observed in archaeological record and linkages with ecological concepts of stability and instability. Argues that concept remains useful, despite recent methodological innovations, because it is readily modified in light of new developments.
