Abstract: Reports statistical investigation of solar zenith angle and solar activity dependences of electron number density in nightside auroral region from topside ionosphere to magnetosphere within geocentric radial distance of 2.6 RE, based on analysis of seven years of plasma wave data measured by plasma wave instrument on Akebono (EXOS-D) satellite. Finds that electron number density changes, depending on solar angle and activity; also that, during solar maximum, geopotential scale height is almost constant within range from 250-400 km but, during solar minimum, geopotential scale height changes drastically at geopotential height around 2,000-2,500 km.
