| Abstract: | Discusses geological data on proglacial lakes and spillways in West Siberian Plain, and crucial features of Late Pleistocene reorganization of drainage pattern of northern Eurasia. Focuses on sediments along margin of last ice sheet and south of it, including new data obtained by Russian-Norwegian research project PECHORA. Finds that margin of last ice sheet in western and central parts of West Siberia is localized above Arctic Circle (150-250 km north of previously suggested limit). Geochronological evidence indicates that last ice dam across West Siberia appeared at early stages of Weichselian ice age. |
