| Abstract: | Outlines new method of recovering and identifying endogenous DNA from well preserved jaw from woolly mammoth Mammuthus primigenus which died near lake Taymyr 28,000 years ago. Compares with DNA sequence from modern African elephant. Researchers were also able to identify DNA sequences from wide range of organisms associated with mammoth sample. |
