Record #178201:

Palaeoecology and archaeology of the village of Uukuniemi, eastern Finland / Teija Alenius, Ville Laakso.

Title: Palaeoecology and archaeology of the village of Uukuniemi, eastern Finland / Teija Alenius, Ville Laakso.
Author(s): Alenius, Teija.
Laakso, Ville.
Date: 2006.
In: Acta Borealia. (2006.), Vol. 23(2) (2006)
Abstract: Presents pollen analytical results from Lake Kirkkolampi and compares with results provided by archaeological material. Discusses phenomenon, common to eastern Finland, that archaeological and palaeoecological data for onset of permanent agricultural settlement contradict each other (with archaeological evidence most often being of later date than palaeoecological evidence). Considers siting of early cultivation at Uukunienmi, as explanation for its apparent early inception.
