Abstract: Considers distinctive lithologic and faunal features shared by Lower Palaeozoic platform carbonate strata in northern Alaska and central Alaska, which suggest that they may have formed on single continental fragment situated between Siberia and Laurentia. Siberian cratonal succession differs from Alaskan successions, indicating that lower Palaeozoic platform successions of northern and central Alaska were not part of Siberian craton during their deposition, but may have formed on crustal fragment rifted away from Siberia during Late Proterozoic.
