| Abstract: | Reviews archaeological and ethnographic work of National Museum's Centre for Greenland Research in region of Kap Farvel (Cape Farewell) district. Notes that historical documentation has been combined with archaeological investigation to provide account of region's history, particularly motivations that, in course of past few centuries, prompted population on east coast to undertake long, perilous journeys in frail umiaks ("women's boats") to trading places on west coast. Also describes role of German Moravian mission in connection with these events. |
