| Abstract: | Presents results of mapping of lichen (using Landsat images from 1976-1998 and field data obtained during summer campaigns in 2000-2001) in summer range of George River caribou herd. Finds that period between 1976-1979 and 1985-1986 is characterised by localised decrease in lichen cover in southern part of study area, while from 1985-1986 to 1998 decrease in lichen cover extends westward and northward. Period coincides with widest extent of George River caribou herd's summer range and activity. |
