| Abstract: | Argues that, in complex ecological, economic, social and institutional context in which Saami reindeer husbandry is practised, there exist large risks of sudden and unpredicted disintegrations and collapses at different system levels, particularly as developments in surrounding society are currently reducing latitude for reindeer industry and its capacity to handle new situations. In order to manage change, author recommends new analytical approach, based on complex systems thinking, where possible changes can be analysed across system borders, scales and disciplines. |
