Aggregations of Arctic deep-sea scavenging amphipods at large food falls = Ökologische Untersuchungen nekrophager Amphipoden in der arktischen Tiefsee / Katrin Premke.
Title: | Aggregations of Arctic deep-sea scavenging amphipods at large food falls = Ökologische Untersuchungen nekrophager Amphipoden in der arktischen Tiefsee / Katrin Premke. |
Author(s): | Premke, Katrin. |
Date: | 2006. |
Language: | English and German. |
In: | Berichte zur Polar- und Meeresforschung = Reports on Polar and Marine Research. (2006.), Vol. 531 (2006) |
Abstract: | Examines feeding ecology of Eurythenes gryllus in Arctic deep sea. Using scanning sonar data, demonstrates that amphipods swim upstream along narrow path towards bait and, in combination with current measurements (direction and speed) and time-lapse photography, finds that chemoreception serves for food fall localisation in E. gryllus over relatively large distances (tenths of metres). |
