Willows, Noreen D.
Date: 2006.
In: International Journal of Circumpolar Health. (2006.), Vol. 65(4) (2006)
Abstract: Investigates levels of fitness in Cree children aged 9-12 years. Measures height, body mass, waist circumference and five skin-fold thicknesses, and assesses physical activity by fitting children with pedometers for two days. Finds that, of 82 participating children, 33% were overweight (but not obese) and 38% were obese according to international reference; also that, based on pedometer scores, only 49% of children were sufficiently active. Considers public health implications of findings.
