Abstract: Evaluates impact of mass immunisation campaign using 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine to control outbreak of severe pneumonia in Nunavik, northern Quebec. Finds that reported incidence of virulent clone of invasive pneumococcal disease responsible for outbreak decreased markedly after implementation of vaccination campaign.
