Record #177504:

Jurassic biota and biofacies in erratics from the Sortland area, Vesterålen, northern Norway / Franz Theodor Fürsich, Elsebeth Thomsen.

Title: Jurassic biota and biofacies in erratics from the Sortland area, Vesterålen, northern Norway / Franz Theodor Fürsich, Elsebeth Thomsen.
Author(s): Fürsich, Franz Theodor.
Thomsen, Elsebeth.
Date: 2005.
In: Norges Geologiske Undersøkelse. Bulletin. (2005.), Vol. 443 (2005)
Abstract: Examines fossil content of erratic blocks occurring on shore at Sortland, northern Norway. Finds blocks to contain either abundant plant debris (indicating fluvial environments or, at least, strong terrestrial influence) or shells and shell debris of variety of marine benthic organisms. Most common organisms are bivalves, followed by serpulids, gastropods, brachiopods and echinoid spines, with belemnites constituting only nektic element.
