The irregular base Cretaceous reflector offshore mid Norway: a possible result of the Mjølnir impact in the Barents Sea / Käre Rokoengen, Atle Mørk, Mai Britt E. Mørk, Morten Smelror.

Title: The irregular base Cretaceous reflector offshore mid Norway: a possible result of the Mjølnir impact in the Barents Sea / Käre Rokoengen, Atle Mørk, Mai Britt E. Mørk, Morten Smelror.
Author(s): Rokoengen, Käre.

Mørk, Mai Britt E.
Smelror, Morten.
Date: 2005.
In: Norges Geologiske Undersøkelse. Bulletin. (2005.), Vol. 443 (2005)
Abstract: Discusses characteristic bedrock reflector offshore mid Norway with densely small-faulted appearance, irregular shape of which has been ascribed to tectonic activity but without providing full explanation. Authors believe that Mjølnir impact event in Barents Sea approximately 142 million years ago can provide explanation and argue that, within present accuracy of seismic interpretation and dating, impact and faulting apparently occurred simultaneously.
