Title: | Climatic responses in spring migration of boreal and Arctic birds in relation to wintering area and taxonomy / Kalle Rainio, Toni Laaksonen, Marcus Ahola, Anssi V. Vähätalo, Esa Lehikoinen. |

Abstract: | Examines whether migratory boreal and Arctic bird species returning from different wintering areas show differences in response to North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) in timing of spring migration. Findings indicate that early phase waterfowl respond most strongly to NAO, but in later phases response faded to non-significant; also that gulls, waders and passerines responded to NAO in all phases of migration and that fading with phase was insignificant. |
