Record #177435:

ESA: Polar explorer delivers rare snow-depth data to ESA for Cryosat validation / Anon.

Title: ESA: Polar explorer delivers rare snow-depth data to ESA for Cryosat validation / Anon.
Date: 2006.
In: Polar Times. (2006.), Vol. 3(8) (2006)
Abstract: Interview first posted on ESA website www.esa.int with Marc Cornelissen, Dutch explorer who deployed mobile weather stations and collected snow-depth measurements on ski-trek from Cape Arctichesky in northern Russia to North Pole. Discusses role of measurements in validation of Cryosat mission products (satellite was lost on launch), role of mission in climate study, and expedition experiences (sea ice conditions, bear encounters, measurements in cold, curtailment when denied permission for base camp at Pole, etc.). Discusses future contribution to validation program in Greenland.
