Record #177353:

An outline of North American deglaciation with emphasis on central and northern Canada / Arthur S. Dyke.

Title: An outline of North American deglaciation with emphasis on central and northern Canada / Arthur S. Dyke.
Author(s): Dyke, Arthur S.
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part II North America. (2004.),
Abstract: Provides broad overview of North American deglaciation, highlighting aspects of continental glaciation, such as opening of corridor between Laurentide and Cordilleran ice, expression of Younger Dryas cooling in continental glacial record and deglaciation of Hudson Bay. Discusses: construction of 32 palaeogeographic maps covering period 18-5 ¹⁴C ka BP; extent and quality of age control; broad patterns of ice cover change over time from Last Glacial Maximum to post-Younger Dryas recession, and deglaciation of Arctic Archipelago and Keewatin. Dates of deglaciation are now considered typically 500-2000 years younger than previously, following advent of AMS dating and "retirement" of many earlier conventional radiocarbon dates.
