Record #177352:

Thickness and character of Quaternary sediments in the glaciated United States east of the Rocky Mountains / David R. Soller.

Title: Thickness and character of Quaternary sediments in the glaciated United States east of the Rocky Mountains / David R. Soller.
Author(s): Soller, David R.
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part II North America. (2004.),
Abstract: Describes 1:1000000 scale map of Quaternary deposits previously compiled for glaciated area of US east of Rocky Mountains, including parts of southern Ontario, areas beneath Great Lakes and parts of submerged eastern seaboard. Map's three components (surface distribution of Quaternary sediments, total thickness of Quaternary sediments, and distribution of significant buried Quaternary units) together provide regional three-dimensional view of deposits. Map also shows Late Wisconsinan ice limits and maximum extent of ice prior to this (on accompanying CD-ROM). Discusses surficial mapping of sediment "character", thickness mapping, factors affecting sediment texture and distribution. Summarises character and thickness of glacial deposits for 25 states/areas.
