Record #177350:

Timing and extent of Plio-Pleistocene glaciations in north-western Canada and east-central Alaska / Alejandra Duk-Rodkin, and 8 others.

Title: Timing and extent of Plio-Pleistocene glaciations in north-western Canada and east-central Alaska / Alejandra Duk-Rodkin, and 8 others.
Author(s): Duk-Rodkin, Alejandra.
Date: 2004.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier
In: Quaternary glaciations - extent and chronology : Part II North America. (2004.),
Abstract: Notes region has one of oldest known continental glacial records preserved in stratigraphical sections, including individual and complex records of Cordilleran, montane and continental glaciations. Describes classical chronology and extent, stratigraphy and morphostratigraphy of regional glaciations from Pliocene through Pleistocene. Discusses evolution of Old Crow lake. Presents stratigraphical correlations across regions. Concludes tectonic development of two major physiographic barriers (Wrangell/St. Elias Mountains and Continental Divide) has been important controlling factor in distribution of moisture supplies, with interplay between uplift and erosion playing important role in controlling ice sheet extent and thickness.
